What an empowering trip! ❤️🌱

Our MALO Kaha’u Youth Leads + Team traveled to Sacramento to share findings from their community grounded research on Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) youth, highlighting community needs, youth substance use, and solutions shaped by their own communities.

At each legislative office, they greeted staff in their native Tongan language and shared their families’ connections to the districts they represent, bringing their Pacific Islander identities, stories, and lived experiences into the room. Through their research and advocacy, our Youth Leads made space for NHPI voices in the conversations shaping public policy and the future of our communities.

We are proud to witness our Youth Leads bring their knowledge, cultural grounding, and vision to the spaces where decisions are made. They are not simply preparing to lead they are leading now, building relationships, and advocating for their communities and future generations. 🌱❤️

🌟 Los Angeles, you showed up! What an amazing day of learning, connection, and community! 🙌🏽🧡💙

MALO was proud to be part of the 2026 Elevate Youth California (EYC) Southern California Regional Training and Technical Assistance at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles! 💪🏽✨

We walked away with so much valuable knowledge, practical tools, new ideas, and useful information to strengthen the work we do with youth right here in the Inland Empire. From youth empowerment and community healing to substance use prevention, this training reinforced the importance of creating safe, supportive spaces where young people feel seen, heard, valued, and equipped to thrive.

For our Polynesian youth and families in Ontario and throughout the IE, this work is especially important. 💛 Our youth deserve culturally responsive support, trusted mentors, access to resources, and opportunities to build confidence, resilience, leadership, and healthy futures while staying connected to their identities, families, and communities. By investing in prevention, education, and meaningful youth engagement, we help strengthen not only individual young people but generations to come. 🌱🤝🏽

Thank you for creating space for collaboration, learning, and the exchange of ideas that we can bring home and put into action for our Inland Empire communities! 🫶🏽
