MALO Community Health Report

This 2024 publication weaves together indigenous ways of knowing with disaggregated, community-collected data to examine health within the Inland Empire Tongan American community. Prepared by Health Bridges and MALO, it draws from 13 health-related dialogues with the MALO community, three years of health needs data, and a data set collected by the Chinese American Service League in partnership with MALO in 2024. It highlights the needs, challenges, and gaps in the current health system, with sections on social determinants of health, health needs, and outcomes. By telling the story of community health with MALO’s own data, knowledge, and wisdom, this report envisions a more accessible and culturally-responsive future of health for Tongan Americans in the Inland Empire and beyond.
