✨🍂September is Preparedness Month, and preparedness is more than having supplies it is making sure our families, elders, children, neighbors, and pets are not left behind when an emergency happens.🚨
Here in the Inland Empire, preparation can help us respond to intense heat, wildfire smoke, earthquakes, power outages, and unexpected evacuations. Start small this week: pack a few essentials, save important phone numbers, check on someone who may need extra support, and choose an out of area family contact.😊
A useful tip: keep an N95 mask, water, a portable charger, comfortable shoes, and copies of important documents in your car or near your front door. During an emergency, those small steps can make a real difference.✨
Preparedness is not about fear. It is about protecting each other, staying connected, and building a stronger community one household at a time.🌴✨🌺

✨✨It was inspiring to see Kaha’u Youth Ambassadors and Youth Leads leading a Community Talatalanoa session this past Saturday at CASA Pitzer. 🌺
Through our Talatalanoa Session, we created space to listen, share stories, and uplift Pacific Islander youth and young adults in the Inland Empire. There is still space for young people ages 12–24 to share their stories. We also welcome elders and families who want to share their experiences.
MALO Kaha’u Youth believe in youth voice, community connection, cultural strength, and creating opportunities for young people to lead. 💚
Interested in joining or hosting a Talatalanoa Session? Send us a message! #MaloTongaIE #InlandEmpire #OntarioIE #KahauYouth #TalatalanoaSession

September is National Food Safety Education Month a fun and important time to level up our kitchen safety skills! 🍎🥗🍗
Food safety helps protect our families, neighbors, coworkers, and community from foodborne illness. From meal prepping during a busy week to cooking for a family gathering, a few simple steps can make a big difference.
Try these four food safety habits this month:
🧼 Clean: Wash hands, produce, and kitchen surfaces before preparing food.
🔪 Separate: Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs away from foods that are ready to eat.
🌡️ Cook: Cook foods fully and use a food thermometer when possible.
❄️ Chill: Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours and keep cold foods cold.
At MALO, we believe health education should be practical, welcoming, and useful for everyone. Let’s support healthier homes and stronger communities across Ontario and the Inland Empire one safe meal at a time! 💛
What is one food safety habit you always practice in your kitchen? Share it below! 👇

🍂🍁September is Self-Care Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating self-care in all the ways it can show up through rest, movement, connection, reflection, healthy boundaries, and asking for support.☀️
For many of us across the Inland Empire, life can mean long commutes, busy workdays, family responsibilities, community commitments, and caring for others. Self-care does not have to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes it starts with drinking water, taking a breath, checking in with a loved one, stepping outside, or giving yourself permission to pause.
At MALO, we believe our well-being is connected to the strength of our families and communities. This month, choose one small act of care for yourself and share it below so someone else can feel inspired, too. 💛
What is one thing you’re doing for your well-being this September?
