As an under-represented and under-served community, our circumstances lead to systemic obstacles different from other ethnic groups and identities within the Asian American experience. In 2014, Asian Americans Advancing Justice partnered with Empowering Pacific Islanders to release a dis-aggregated report on Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander statistics. Within that report, Tongans are afflicted in several areas. The following statistics illustrate the issues affecting Tongans and Tongan Americans within the Inland Empire.
